Barclays U.S. stock strategist Maneesh Deshpande believes the U.S. bull market is maturing, but still sees room for more upside this year. In particular, Deshpande recommends overweighting Financials (set to benefit from higher interest rates) and Technology stocks, which tend to do well in the later stages of an economic cycle.
Despite his upbeat forecast, Deshpande sounded a more cautious tone on President Trump’s trade policies: “While it is not our base case, an all-out global trade war could potentially completely offset the positive fiscal stimulus from tax reform.”
